Montauk

There is something special about visiting the beach in the off-season.

Perhaps it's the wide open vistas of windswept sand and bleached driftwood without a soul in sight.

The thrill of solitude after months spent in close quarters with millions of other New Yorkers.

And, of course, what can compare with the joy of feeling the wind in your hair and sand beneath your paws?

I have missed you here!! Also, are you in the Chicago area now? Are you coming soon? I can't wait to see your take on things!

Montague - it was gorgeous! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Limonana - Seeing the pup frolicking in the sand was the most fun part!

Shannalee - I know I've been MIA. Changes in plans led us to remain in NYC, so no Chicago yet. I was looking forward to hanging out and learning the ropes from you!

You're back! what beautiful images. makes me want to go the beach today, despite the prediction of a cold, soaking rain. Happy to see you in blogland again.

Oh gosh, I love the off-season beach so much! It looks so perfectly serene and all those subtle colors: gorgeous!

I was wondering when we'd see more Hazel pictures...she's gotten so big!

I need a day at the beach...this looks so peaceful and your dog could not be happier! You're going to laugh but when I was in labor I kept picturing myself at the beach with my dogs...my labor nurse told me to use visualization to get through the pain, and somehow that image seemed the most serene to me. Of course, the epidural helped, too:)

Chelsea - Thanks, and welcome!

Grey Cottage Studio - Good to be back! I missed this space.

Sabrina - Many more Hazel photos to come, she's so cute I can't resist.

Lil Bee - I had to laugh at your labor calm scenario. Not a bad idea though. I may just use that one myself someday!

What lovely photos! And a really cute dog. The beach in winter is a magical place - but usually that's what it looks like all year round in Scotland ;o)

Di - I saw your photos of Scotland. Gorgeous! I wish I could be enjoying that year-round too!
